The People Center's life and growth is supported by it's Board of Directors, a group of caring individuals whose diverse backgrounds and talents provide a strong foundation for the organization.
Brad Fisher, Chairman

Brad is an associate attorney with the law firm of Scholten Fant in Grand Haven, Michigan. He has been on the People Center Board of Directors since July 2004. |
Curt Theune, Vice Chairman

As a local law enforcement officer, Curt sees first hand the need in our community for food, clothing and shelter. By joining The People Center Board of Directors in 2004 Curt realized his ambition to contribute to the area in ways outside of his professional capacity. |
Linda Groenleer, Treasurer

Linda finds it very rewarding to assist people in need in our community as coordinator of the food pantry. Linda has been on the Board of Directors of the People Center since it's beginning in 1996. |
Susan Negen, Secretary
 |
Susan Negen has been a member of The People Center Board of Directors since 2004. She is excited about using her marketing and technology skills to help get the word out to the community about the wonderful contributions The People Center makes to the Tri- Cities. |
Karen Reenders, Director
 |
Karen became the Director of The People Center in 1999. She is the only paid employee and works part time. All other positions are filled by caring volunteers. The People Center is Karen's passion as well as her job. She is married with two children. |
Shirley Baker

Shirley has been a volunteer at the People Center since 2000 both a Host Volunteer and the manager of the Clothing Hutch. She joined the Board of Directors in January of 2008. Prior to her retirement from management, she has served on several non profit boards and recognizes the importance of the role that The People Center plays in the community, helping individuals and families in need of a caring helping hand. |
Kaitlin Boyink

Kaitlin joined the People Center Board of Directors in January of 2008. She is a Corporate Recruiter for MedOptions, Inc. of Old Saybrook, CT. Kaitlin is married to Jason and they live in the Village of Spring Lake with their two children. | Chris Cassleman

Chris has been a Board Member with the People Center since 2000 and currently serves on the Executive Committee as treasurer. He is a neighbor of the People Center, and is a commercial loan officer for Grand Haven Bank, one of our business partners. |

Erick Johnson has served on the People Center Board since 1998. Three years as President. He brings a broad business background and expertise in administrative operations to The People Center. Erick is married to Holly and they live in the village of Spring Lake with their two children. | Jeanine Johnson

Jeanine came to know The People Center eight years ago by participating in a United Way 'Day of Caring' through Harbor Industries, Inc. Soon after, she joined the Board representing St. Mary's parish in Spring Lake - one of The People Center's church partners.
The People Center has been a passion not only for Jeanine, but also for her husband and daughter. They have done multiple projects as a family (cleaning, repairs, painting, etc.) It's been good for her daughter to see that although they have so much, others in the Tri-Cities have a huge need for transitional housing, food, and clothing. |
Julie Klaassen

Julie joined The People Center Board of Directors in 1998. In that time, she served as Board Treasurer for three years and Board President for two years. Julie is employed as a District Manager VP for Fifth Third Bank and lives in Grand Haven with her husband Scott and their two children. |
Petra Knight

As a social worker, Petra understands how pivotal community resources are in moving people forward in their lives. Both personally and professionally Petra has found it gratifying to be a part of The People Center Board.

Chuck Michele
 |
Chuck has served on The People Center Board since 1999 and has been on the Building and Grounds Committee for all that time. His work was essential in renovating the three new transitional housing apartments which opened this year as Samantha's Place. Chuck has worked for Shape Corp. for 27 years, has been married to Ellen for 41 years, and has 5 wonderful grandchildren. When not volunteering, Chuck enjoys fishing, golfing and gardening. |
Jean Regester

Jean Regester, who joined the Board in January, 2008, has lived in the Tri-Cities area for 10 years and is an active member of Christ Community Church. As a People Center volunteer for at least 3 years, she finds it most rewarding to listen to the individual stories of those clients who visit the Food Pantry and the Clothing Hutch. She is semi-retired, still active with her psychology practice, which she shares with her husband, in Grandville and Grand Haven. She and Dave have two adult children and two grandchildren. |
Kim Senior

Kim joined the Board of Directors in January of 2008. She has a passion to help those in need and felt that being on the board would give her the outlet to do so. She is employeed at The Spring Lake Library. She enjoys being with her family. |
Joel Toppen

Joel Toppen has served on the Board of Directors since 2004. Joel teaches political science at Hope College and is a former Grand Haven City Planning Commissioner. He and his wife have three children and live in Grand Haven. |
Donna vandenBerg

Donna joined the board in 2008. She was a hostess at The People Center and has volunteered at two other food pantries in other cities. She and her husband Rick have two adult children and live in Spring Lake. |
